Maiti Nepal

Maiti Nepal was founded in 1993 to combat human trafficking and other forms of abuse against women and children. Important elements of the organisation’s work include the prevention of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, the rescue of victims of sex trafficking, the rehabilitation process of rescued victims, and legal assistance for victims. As part of its focus on prevention, Maiti Nepal actively searches for potential victims in airports, border crossings and bus stations. This is done in collaboration with local law enforcement as well as girls that were previously rescued and trained by Maiti Nepal. The organisation also runs various rehabilitation and prevention projects as well as transit houses and a school for formal education.
