Week against child prostitution

Young children unpack sex toys in a shocking film by Free A Girl, the international organisation dedicated to freeing young girls from forced prostitution.

Designed to underline the message ‘sex is not child’s play’, the first part of the film subverts toy unboxing – a popular way for new toy products to be revealed and reviewed online – by filming young girls unboxing sex toys then innocently speculating on their likely use.

The mood then quickly darkens, however, as the film cuts to video-cam footage of a young girl being offered for sex.

The film is being distributed by Free A Girl to raise awareness of its campaign against child prostitution and to promote ‘Week Against Child Prostitution’ which takes place May 15-21 to raise money to support the fight against child prostitution worldwide.

Created by Amsterdam-based agency Tosti Creative, the film was shot by production company In Case of Fire and is being distributed online via the charity’s web site and You Tube:

Although ‘Week Against Child Prostitution’ was conceived to raise funds from supporters based in the Netherlands, people from anywhere eager to support the campaign can participate, donate and find more information via the charity’s website:  www.freeagirl.nl/en

Director and Co-founder of Free A Girl, Evelien Hölsken, says: “An estimated two million children all over the world are caught up in prostitution, of whom 1.2 million are in India. Girls are forced to have sex every day with dozens of men.

“We want this to stop and appeal to the whole country to join forces with us and take action. Together, we can liberate the girls from the horrific circumstances in which they live and offer them a bright new future.”

Supporters are also being encouraged to co-ordinate their own fundraising events and share support via social media using the campaign hashtags #wacp17, #freeagirl

Meanwhile, Dutch singer and songwriter Niels Geusebroek will dedicate ‘Here am I’ to Free A Girl with part of the proceeds from the single, which can be downloaded on Spotify, going to support the charity.
